My best friend, Emma, just turned 20 at the end of January and threw a 1920’s themed party to celebrate! I didn’t have a 1920’s flapper dress in the back of my closet so I had to make do with what I did have: red lipstick, pearls, and (my roommate’s) feather headband.

My outfit:

Makeup:
Lipstick – Hourglass
Liquid eyeliner – Stila

The goal of this outfit was not to wear strictly 1920’s fashion, but to capture the essence of the decade. With the red lipstick and cateye, I wanted to create a flapper chic look. With my leather skirt, I felt pretty BA, if I do say so myself. But, I femme’d it up with the flowy blouse and pearls (which are also a 1920’s classic). I think the headdress really made the outfit. After all, you can’t have a flapper without a feather!

This was such a fun look to plan and the party was amazing as well! I’ve always loved the 1920’s, and with The Great Gatsby coming out this past year, it was a fun idea. I love theme parties, I think I’ll have to brainstorm for the next 8 months until my 22nd birthday.

It’s not you, it’s me.

So obviously I’m horrible at this sort of thing… I always forget to post! Let it be known that from now on I plan to make more of an effort. I totally had other blog posts planned and then time got away from me…

Anyways, I’m currently applying for internships for the summer. I really want to get an internship in publishing somewhere. It’s taking much longer than I planned and it’s not very fun but I guess that’s life. Welcome to the real world of work and boringness. I think the hardest part for me is that I want my cover letters and resume to be perfect and I’m afraid it’s going to take a long time to finish so I’m procrastinating. But no more!!! I can do it! (I hope..)

Other things going on in my life at the moment:

• it’s the end of spring break and I may or may not be crying about it a little bit
• I’m sewing a skirt & crop top printed set that I hope will turn out to be super cute so look for a post on that in the near future!!
• I’m trying to get back into photography
• there are so many things I want to do that I just feel like I don’t have enough time!!
• I can’t wait for it to be spring so I can go outside and take pictures and hoola hoop
• thank god for daylight savings – it means spring is coming

An Actual Blog?

Well, welcome I guess! 

This is my first attempt at a blog that’s not a tumblr. Honestly, yes I’m doing this because I don’t want future employers to get a hand on my tumblr because let’s be frank, it’s NSFW. So, I’ve decided I need to actually do something with my life and try to get an internship and I’m looking for jobs in the publishing/social media/whatever else fields… We’ll see how this goes.

At the moment, I’m about to start packing to go back to school, I can’t believe I have to start classes again on Wednesday… With two English classes, an abnormal psych class, and a drawing class about to begin, I’m not sure now is the best time to start something like this, but I guess we’ll have to see!
